What is an Industrial Gateway?

Industrial gateways are gateways that connect networked devices to IP-based networks and the industrial internet. They can withstand harsh environments and because they are low maintenance, can be put in remote environments. Industrial gateways are often designed without fans or other moving parts, which are often the first to break down. Many also feature no vents to prevent dust and other debris from entering. Industrial gateways are can be found in many different applications, including factories and train yards.

Industrial IoT Gateways

Industrial IoT gateways (IIoT) are cloud gateways, sending data to the cloud or the industrial internet. IIoTs use a standard microprocessor and operating system and support IoT data integration. Companies use industrial gateways to use IoT applications, taking data and streamlining it to be processed.
